In the heart of California's Gold Rush country, Amador County pairs historic towns such as Sutter Creek, Amador City and Plymouth with rolling vineyard land. The Shenandoah Valley, near Plymouth, is home to a concentration of welcoming, often family-run wineries.
Amador is renowned for Zinfandel, including some of California's oldest Zinfandel vineyards, and for Italian and Rhône varieties such as Barbera and Syrah. Tastings are typically relaxed and personal.
