Between the Bay and the hills

On the Peninsula south of San Francisco, a handful of small wineries operate in towns such as San Carlos, Redwood City and South San Francisco. Many source grapes from the nearby Santa Cruz Mountains and from vineyards across California.

The wooded hills to the west are part of the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation, so a Peninsula tasting can easily become a scenic drive along Skyline Boulevard.
