Highway 128 winds from the inland hills through Boonville and Philo, past apple orchards and redwood groves, before meeting the Pacific near the village of Mendocino. Along the way, Anderson Valley's wineries welcome visitors in a setting that feels remote and deeply peaceful.
Cool, foggy nights and a strong ocean influence make this one of California's most respected regions for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, as well as aromatic whites and sparkling wine. Higher up, the Mendocino Ridge appellation's vineyards sit above the fog line.
