Orchards, rivers and foothill wines

North of Sacramento, the valley opens into a landscape of orchards, rice fields and rivers, with the Sierra foothills rising to the east. Around Chico, Oroville and nearby towns, small wineries welcome visitors with a down-to-earth, farm-country spirit.

Chico's tree-shaded downtown and vast Bidwell Park make a pleasant base, while foothill wineries near Oroville offer views over the valley. Expect warm-climate reds and a friendly, personal welcome.
