High vineyards, clear water

Just north of Napa, Lake County wraps around Clear Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake located entirely within California. Vineyards climb volcanic hillsides beneath Mount Konocti, and small towns like Kelseyville, Lakeport and Middletown keep a relaxed, rural feel.

Many vineyards here sit at notable elevation, with clean air and intense sunshine. The Red Hills appellation is known for its volcanic soils, and the county has earned a reputation for vibrant Sauvignon Blanc and structured Cabernet Sauvignon.
