Above the fog, off the beaten path

Rising above the eastern side of Napa Valley, Howell Mountain was one of Napa Valley's earliest designated sub-appellations. Its vineyards sit high above the valley floor, often above the morning fog, on thin volcanic and red, iron-rich soils.

Wines from the mountain are known for depth and firm structure, especially Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. Beyond it, rural Pope Valley offers open ranch land and quiet roads, a world away from the bustle of Highway 29.
