Rolling hills, charming towns

Over the mountains from Santa Barbara, the Santa Ynez Valley is a landscape of oak-studded hills, horse ranches and vineyards. Its towns each have their own personality: Danish-inspired Solvang, walkable Los Olivos with its many tasting rooms, Buellton and Santa Ynez.

The valley warms from west to east, so several distinct appellations sit side by side. Ballard Canyon is known for Syrah, Happy Canyon for Bordeaux varieties, and the Los Olivos District for a wide range of wines.
