The valley's sweet side

In the heart of California's farmland, Fresno and Madera counties are surrounded by vineyards, orchards and fields. Small family wineries welcome visitors along the Madera Wine Trail and in the foothills to the east.

The Madera area has a long tradition of dessert and fortified wines alongside table wines, while the higher Squaw Valley–Miramonte appellation in the Sierra foothills offers cooler nights. The region is also a gateway to Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks.
