Cool valley, warm welcome

Opening directly to the Pacific, the Santa Maria Valley was among California's first designated wine appellations. Cool ocean air creates an exceptionally long growing season, prized for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah.

The area is also the home of Santa Maria-style barbecue. Nearby, the small Old West town of Los Alamos has become a favorite stop, with tasting rooms, bakeries and restaurants along its main street.
