Who can play
Public. Book through the daily Old Course ballot (a lottery drawn 2 days ahead; at least 2 players), advance tee times, single-golfer and winter options, or authorised providers. The ballot closes at 2 p.m. two days before play, and results come out after 4:30 p.m. There's no Friday ballot because the course is closed on Sundays. The Old Course needs a handicap certificate (maximum 36 for men and women) shown to the starter.

Stay-and-play
No stay required. Only golfers named on a ballot entry may play, and ballot rounds are paid to the starter on the day.
What's included
A free shuttle bus links the clubhouses, the Old Pavilion and the Golf Academy (Mar 30 – Oct 24, 2026; no Sunday service).
Caddies & tipping
Optional. 2026 caddie fee £80 plus gratuity, paid directly to the caddie in pounds sterling after the round. Gratuities are recommended to start at £35. Caddie season runs Apr 1 – Oct 31.
Dress code
Golf attire that isn't scruffy or torn, and appropriate golf footwear. Clubhouses are smart/casual.
When to go
High season Apr 21 – Oct 18, 2026. Low season Nov 1 – Mar 31 uses fairway mats.
Getting there
Edinburgh and Glasgow airports (transfer time not stated). Leuchars train station is 10 min by car.

£180–£495 per golfer for an Old Course round: low-season fee alone, up to 2027 high season £380 + caddie £80 + £35 tip.
